A healthy baby is a pleasure to listen to. However, if your baby is suffering from a candida rash or infant thrush he/she is so cranky and so uncomfortable.
Candida is an internal yeast infection. It is usually caused from an overuse of antibiotics and steroids. Common symptoms are:
Some of these symptoms may appear in the baby, but frequently will show up in the Mom before.
If your healthy baby develops a diaper rash that appears more severe than other common diaper rashes, it could possibly be a Candida rash. It will probably last longer than the usual rash. It may appear dry or crusty along with red lesions.
Coconut oil can be applied to diaper rash and other rashes frequently, which may increase it temporarily because it helps pull out toxins that cause such rashes. Coconut oil helps pull out toxins so that the rash might appear worse. That stage is only temporary.
A rash is evidence the body is working hard to get rid of toxins. A rash is the body’s way of protecting vital inner organs by moving the healing externally.
Epsom salt baths will help alleviate these symptoms and also help pull toxins out through the skin.
Thrush is often a symptom in babies who already have a candida diaper rash but it could appear first. An oral infection would suggest an overgrowth of Candida Albican fungus.
Thrush/yeast organism passes from mother to baby by breastfeeding. If the baby continues to get oral infection, the nursing mother should check her own health and level of candida in her body. They are also exposed to this fungus at birth, as they pass through mother's vagina.
Watch for symptoms in yourself, such as
Those are the most common symptoms suggesting that you have candida.
Avoid giving your baby a taste of sweet treats. Some parents like to let their baby sample a drop of honey or bottle of apple juice but during a candida infection this may worsen the symptoms and prolong the infection. A bottle of pure water would help keep your baby’s mouth clean after breastfeeding.
Babies are prone to developing thrush as their immune systems are not fully formed. If drugs are used as treatment this will be additional stress to the infant's gastrointestinal system. This could cause infant acid reflux.
Your doctor or health care professional can help rule out any underlying conditions.
Chemicals Used in Diapers
This is a thought, that we would prefer not to think about, but it is very important.
There are many different chemicals used in the manufacture of cloth diapers, single use diapers and even baby wipes.
