Endometriosis and Yeast Infections
What is Endo? Endometriosis is a painful chronic condition. It occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus is found in locations outside the uterus. It may be found on ovaries, the bowel, outside of the uterus, the bladder, and the ligaments that hold the bladder in place.
This condition affects millions of women in North America. It affects all races, personalities, socioeconomic groups, as well as ages of females from 9 years old to women in their 60's and 70's. The misplaced tissue develops into growths that coincides with the menstrual cycle, similar to the way the tissue of the lining of the uterus does.

Endo and Candida In the 1980's, John Curlin, M.D., a Tennessee gynecologist, began treating some of his patients with menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain and endo. He writes that there is a strong link between candidiasis and endo.(taken from The Yeast Connection and Women's Health) Another doctor in the book called Overcoming Endometriosis believes unquestionably that there is a very high association between endo and chronic candidiasis. He also says that they are not sure which comes first or if there is some common factor predisposes to both. Another gynecologist Pamela Morford, has another interesting viewpoint on the connection between candida, allergies and endo. Her viewpoint from experience with patients who have pelvic pain also have yeast and allergies along with endo. After treating the patient with anti-candida therapy, she will more than likely lose her pelvic pain and the pain. The actual endo may not go away at this point. Dr. Wayne Konetzki, M.D., a Wisconsin allergist suggests some women with endo are most likely to be allergic or sensitive to luteinizing hormone and estrogen, as well as Candida albicans.
Laparoscopy and Laparoscopic Surgery
If surgery is required, it can be laparoscopic (belly button) surgery, where misplaced tissue can be removed. Radical surgery with a full incision often includes a hysterectomy, with removal of all growths and sometimes the ovaries. Dr. Konetzki's treatment for his patients starts with Allergy desensitization, then A 100% sugar free diet restricts yeast related products. As I mentioned previously on the Candida Diet page, refined sugars and alcoholic beverages should be completely avoided, then Antifungal drugs or an alternative non-prescription product with caprylic acid and/or grapefruit seed extract. My suggestions are to have a wide variety of very nutritious foods and taking nutritional supplements. Avoid chemical pollutants in your food and your environment as much as possible. Avoid molds in your homes and your workplace.
