Edible Mushrooms are extremely nutritious and very tasty. This edible fungus is a vegetable that contain vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Mushrooms have now become very popular in most supermarkets and restaurants. There are many varieties of Edible Mushrooms. I know when you are on a Candida Diet, you should avoid mushrooms because they are a fungus, but I think after you have been very cautious with your diet and your immune system is stronger, you could introduce a healthy mushroom into your diet. Fungus has a 'Bad Rap' Fungas has a bad name, but did you know that fungus and bacteria both live in the soil and are vital to soil health. These microbes are vital both to the soil, as well as our health. Fungi has a symbiotic relationship with plants. A certain fungi called mycorrhizae live partially in the plant root hairs and in the soil. The plant supplies food for the fungus and the fungus supplies moisture and minerals to the plant. Boletus Edulis
This edible mushroom grows in deciduous and coniferous forests. They envelop the tree’s underground roots with fungal tissue. The fungus produces above ground in summer and autumn. It has a large brown cap and extended tubes downward from the underside of the cap, rather than gills. This mushroom is low in fat and a digestible carbohydrate. It is high in protein, vitamins, minerals and dietary fibre. It contains a steroid derivative ergosterol, a sugar binding protein, antiviral compounds, antioxidants and phytochelatins. This mushroom is resistant to toxic heavy metals. Puffball This mushroom is found in meadows, field and deciduous forests.
