Diet Coke
The Coca Cola Company distributes a sugar free soft drink called Diet Coke. It is also known as Diet Coca-Cola. In 1982, the Coca Cola Company introduced this drink and it quickly overtook the previously well known name for a diet soft drink called Tab.
Tab was released in 1963 and in 1964 Diet Pepsi was released by the Pepsi Company. There are some people who drink Diet Pepsi and would never drink another brand.
Aspartame and Your Health Aspartame was the sweetener of choice that was used in Diet Coke. Even though there has been much controversy over the use of Aspartame and the Monsanto Company, aspartame remains legal in the USA and is still approved by the FDA for general consumption. A study conducted at the European Ramazzini Foundation of Oncology and Environmental Sciences showed the original studies were flawed. Aspartame has been found to increase the risk of cancers like Lymphomas and Leukemias. Aspartame is also the artificial sweetener found in Equal and NutraSweet. At one point in time, aspartame was used in a blend of saccharin in Coca Cola's diet drink. Again, after much controversy with trademarks, Coca Cola Company switched their formula to using 100 percent Nutrasweet, in other words, Aspartame. Again, in 1985, there was a slightly different balance of ingredients, using high fructose corn syrup. Diet Coke from soda fountain dispensers still contains some saccharin in order to extend shelf life.
Coke Zero or Coca-Cola Zero, is another sugar free variation of the regular Coke. This was introduced in 2005. Coke Zero is presently sold in 90 countries throughout the world.Obesity Drinking soft drinks and even drinking diet sodas, still keeps the body craving sugar. Our brain perceives any kind of sweetener as SUGAR. This is a reason that soft drinks are not allowed on a Candida Diet. Excess weight is a concern for 65% of the American population. In 2011, 61% of Canadian adults are obese and 24% of children are obese. Artificial Sweeteners do not correct the obesity problems of today's society. I personally, have never met anyone who is actually losing weight, while drinking diet drinks, in fact, it has been the very opposite. Are you or your children listening to any advice being given on the TV or in articles regarding the epidemic of overweight happening to us today? Use of Aspartame Aspartame is also a potent neurotoxin and endocrine disrupter. People are developing serious conditions. - depression
- ADD
- panic disorders
Others sweeteners, such as Splenda are just as dangerous for our bodies. Using sweeteners just prolongs the addition. Wouldn't water be a healthier choice?
