Candida Problem Foods

Foods to be Avoided

This is a list of Candida problem foods when you are on a candida diet. This list is quite lengthy and, of course, it consists of a lot of the foods that we love to indulge in.

You know those problem foods that I’m talking about. The foods that help us deal with a ‘grumpy’ day. That early morning 'danish'. Oh so good and so sweet!

Those Candida Problem Foods also may help us deal with someone else who is having a 'grumpy' day!

Someone suffering from candidiasis craves some of these foods, because the yeast needs that particular food in order to thrive in the body.

These same foods cause problems for anyone with osteoporosis.

These are some of the candida problem foods.

  • Sugar
  • Alcohol
  • Yeast
  • Gluten
  • Condiments

Sugar:

Sugar is the most important thing to be removed from your diet.

Candida Problem Foods - Sugar Sugar feeds candida and the production of yeast in the body.

There are many forms of sugar

  • brown sugar
  • date sugar
  • maple sugar
  • honey
  • white sugar
  • maple syrup
  • rice syrup
  • corn syrup
  • fruit sugar

Fruit should be eliminated from your diet for the first month or so. Fruits will help grow more yeast.

  • fruit juices
  • dried fruit
  • canned fruit
  • frozen fruit

Fructose, sucrose, glucose, lactose are on the list of problem foods to be avoided.

Alcohol:

Beer and Wine should be omitted. The reason for this is the fermenting process that wine goes through and beer contains a great deal of yeast.

Caffeine:

Caffeine should be listed as a problem food. It helps the growth of fungus and yeast.

Mold collects on the coffee beans and tea leaves during the drying process. It's so hard to give up that first morning 'cuppa java'.

Chocolate:

Chocolate could be the next hardest food or treat to give up. Chocolate usually is a craving that the yeast or fungus needs to keep going. Some people even claim they are addicted to chocolate.

Gluten and Yeast:

Baked goods, such as breads, muffins, crackers, and pastries are on that list of problem foods.

Nuts:

Peanuts, pistachios, walnuts have a mold in them, which can cause the growth of the fungus.

Be sure to avoid peanuts because of their high fungal content. Also, avoid rancid nuts and seeds. You can tell if the nuts are rancid, if you get a rancid taste or an odd bitter sting at the back of the throat.

Sesame and flax seeds are almost always okay.

Soak nuts and seeds to activate their enzymes. This will eliminate enzyme inhibitors and partially digest the protein making their nutritional and hydrating potential more readily available to your body.

Condiments:

Most condiments contain sugar, salt or both. They frequently contain fermented or acidifying ingredients.

What would be your favourite alternatives to ketchup, mustard, vinegar, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce and soy sauce?

You might try healthy oils, lemons, limes, garlic, onion, ginger and other spices.

Proteins:

Some beef, chicken and pork have antibiotics and hormones added. Antibiotics could have been the original reason you now have candida.

Many smoked meats have added sugar and should be avoided as well.

Even though the list of foods to avoid appears to be very lengthy, there are still plenty of foods that you can enjoy.
