Candida Control Diet
This Candida Diet seems unduly strict but if you keep the end goal in site, it will be much easier. The following suggestions are actually quite easy to do, once you have made up your mind to do it. Meat Organic chicken and some fish would be an excellent source of protein. Avoid red meats, pork, deli meats and sea foods, especially shellfish, lobster. Eggs Eggs are an excellent replacement for eating meat, if you are choosing to be vegetarian. Choose only organic. It’s important to eliminate as many food additives as much as possible. Dairy If you choose to have butter occasionally, then (clarifying the butter)eliminates the milk sugars that can be harmful for a candida condition. Goats milk, goats milk cheese, and goat’s milk yogurt, soya milk, brown rice milk are excellent choices. I recently experienced sheep yogurt. It is absolutely delicious! Avoid cows milk, cream, yogurt and cheese Grains I suggest limiting the number of different grains that you include in your candida control diet. Millet, cornmeal, quinoa are excellent to use as a breakfast cereal. There are some gluten free products available in your neighbourhood health store and also in some supermarkets. Quinoa is an excellent gluten free grain and tasty too. It often referred to as an ancient grain. Avoid all commercial breads and flour Legumes Lentils, soy beans, azuki beans, white navy beans are another source of protein. Vegetables Eating plenty of vegetables daily. Raw or slightly steamed is an excellent and easy way to have as many veggies as you like. Different coloured veggies provide different vitamins and minerals. Mushrooms are not included in this candida diet, as they are a fungus. There is information about edible mushrooms on another page. Head lettuce or iceberg lettuce is a poor source of vitamins and has been sprayed with chemicals frequently. Have you ever seen iceberg lettuce in a health food store market? I haven't. Superfoods Do you ever hear the term 'superfoods' being used and wonder what this means? These foods need to be eaten every day and replace the harmful high fat, low nutrient foods. Nuts and Seeds Only fresh nuts and seeds, unroasted and raw (raw cashews, almonds, walnuts, pine nuts, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds etc.) and their products - almond butter, cashew butter, tahani butter Peanut and pistachios are not permitted on this anti-candida diet as each harbors a type of fungus or parasite. Oils Fruits Enjoying fruits in moderation. There are some fruits that you should avoid. These are grapes, oranges, grapefruits. Lemons are OK when you are on a Candida Diet. Lemon and lime add freshness and zest and because of the low sugar content are alkalizing as well. Melons and skins of fruit and vegetables accumulate mold during growth. It is important to scrub the skins and wash in a bath of Liquid Chlorophyl and water, or a few drops of Silver Shield or Nature’s Fresh. More about these products later on. Sugars Avoid all kinds of sugar including honey, maple syrup, artificial substitutes. Liquid Herbal teasLiquid Chlorophyl plenty of pure water It is best not to drink liquids with your meals if you are wanting better digestion. Enjoying a blender shake of veggies would be another way to get more vitamins and minerals into your system. Avoid coffee, tea, sodas, diet soda and alcoholic beverages. Spices Garlic, onion and ginger are all naturally antifungal and antiparasitic. Condiments “Quik Sip” or Braggs Avoid all other commercial condiments and sauces including vinegar Pasta All whole grain pastas such as soya, rice, corn, durum semolina, quinoa, Snacks Freshly popped popcorn, Corn Chips, Rice Cakes
Some people ask about eating Chocolate while on a Candida Diet. I say NO.Remember this Candida Control Diet may not be a short-term affair. It may take several months in order to see your symptoms disappear. I lived with this special eating regime for many years and eventually found it quite easy and preferred it. I used to refer to it as my wheat-free, dairy-free and sugar-free diet. Can you believe it, I went fruit-free, while living on Maui, where all those beautiful pineapples are grown! When I eventually and gradually went back to eating, what I referred to as ‘normal’, my energy level was not as good. I eventually started feeling quite lethargic and digestive problems started up. I gained weight too. I will make a list of Problem Foods and which foods you could easily replace them with.
